Design and Implementation of a Personalizable Alternative Mouse and Keyboard Interface for Individuals with Limited Upper Limb Mobility

People with neuromuscular diseases often experience limited upper limb mobility, which makes the handling of standard computer mice and keyboards difficult. Due to importance computers in private professional life, this work aims at implementing an alternative mouse keyboard interface that will allow for their efficient use by people a disease. strongly differing symptoms these diseases, personalization on hardware software levels is focus our work. The presented based spectacle frame integrated motion sensor head tracking, enables control cursor position; consists ten keys, are used generate word suggestions user input. was tested study involving three participants without disabilities, showed general functionality system potential room improvement. With average throughput 1.56 bits per second achieved typing speeds 8.44 words minute obtained using keyboard, proposed could be promising input device mobility.
